What is Wall Street Cares Day?
Wall Street Cares Day is an annual day of service where members of the financial community celebrate philanthropy and volunteerism by providing some of New York area’s leading nonprofit with volunteers for the day. We will use the platform that NASDAQ provides to spotlight the good work these nonprofits are doing, bring greater awareness to the role nonprofits play in our communities (did you know that the nonprofit sector represents between 6-8 percent of GDP) and build awareness for Convio, one of the newest NASDAQ listed companies and a leading provider of software and services to the nonprofit community. In a year where Wall Street has not always been shown in the most positive light, it is a change to show the world our best side.
The event is based on the Annual Convio Cares Week. Each year, Convio’s more than 375 team members go into the community in groups to provide service to nonprofit organizations. In one week this past May, the companies employees gave more than 2,800 hours of service to the community. The company also grants each team member three paid volunteer days each year. Last year, the companies volunteer time off program allowed team members to commit more than 10,000 hours to volunteering during the work week and many more hours after the work day and on weekends.
